A course labeled AI fluency should make clear whether it belongs to general education, a major, or a certificate program, because those pathways serve different purposes. General education can establish a common floor. Major level coursework should connect AI use to the discipline. A certificate should justify the extra time by producing a clearer signal than a single required class. ## Signal, not résumé glitter Inside Higher Ed ties the curriculum push to employers seeking graduates who know how to use artificial intelligence.
