What stayed with me was not the glitch, but the quiet ritual around it: everyone in the room had already accepted that education now depends on systems most people did not help design. That is the strange bargain of digital transformation in higher education. Universities buy platforms, wire campuses, train faculty, and promise students smoother experiences. Yet the hard part is rarely the tool itself. It is the choreography around the tool, the question of what the institution values, how technology fits that value, and what daily practice must change so the promise does not evaporate in a classroom, office, or login screen. ## The Tool Was Never the Transformation A Frontiers in Psychology original research article published in the Educational Psychology section on 06 November 2025 gives this familiar campus frustration a more useful vocabulary. But the Frontiers article, as summarized in its PDF, says the authors first analyze the field, then propose a logical framework for digital transformation in higher education, then analyze potential dilemmas and identify implementation approaches. The sequence is the point. Analysis comes before framework, framework before dilemmas, dilemmas before implementation. It is a mirror that shows whether the institution’s story about itself matches the lived experience of its people. ## Implementation Is a Cultural Interface The Frontiers in Psychology article belongs to a research topic on innovative ICT strategies for inclusive education, according to the journal page. That placement is worth noticing. Inclusion is not just about who has a device or who can reach a portal. It is about whether the design of the institution makes participation easier or harder for different kinds of learners and educators. This is where the philosophy becomes practical. For educators, it is a reminder that skepticism can be constructive when it asks how a tool changes the learning relationship rather than simply whether the tool is new. The next wave of campus technology will not be judged by the number of systems deployed. It will be judged by whether universities can connect purpose, infrastructure, and practice without making students and faculty do the invisible repair work.
